Android 4.0.3 ICS Firmware Update Rolled Out For Motorola Droid RAZR And Droid RAZR Maxx

After Motorola Xoom WiFi received Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich developer version a few days ago, today we have new proofs regarding the arrival of Android Ice Cream Sandwich on Motorola Droid RAZR and its bigger-battery brother, Droid RAZR Maxx.

Rumor has it that Motorola have sent the regular mail to the Motorola Feedback members, in search of Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx owners willing to test the new Android 4.0.3 ICS release. This sort of testing session, similar to the one deployed for Xoom, involves a group of volunteers which will install the new software on their devices. Thus, Motorola receives immediate feedback, tracking the evolution of the devices owned by the volunteer users. If any bugs occur with the firmware update, then they would be limited to the number of tested devices, while the rest of Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx will remain unaffected.

The picture above comes from DroidRzr.com forum, where an Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware for Motorola Droid RAZR have prematurely hit the web. Anyway, the firmware was rolled back when they figured out that the classic flashing methods are not working. It seem that we are dealing with the version 6.14.75, which includes new webtop functions and a new user interface for Android 4.0. Maybe next week the Android Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx will be officially released.

Motorola Droid RAZR features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, a dual-core 1.2 GHz TI OMAP 4430 Cortex A9 chipset, 16 GB of internal storage, 1 GB of RAM and 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD video recording support. On the other hand, Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx sports the same display, chipset and storage capacity as its brother, but its battery has 3,300 mAh, instead of 1,780 mAh. Both Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx have 4G LTE capabilities.
