MWC: Samsung held a Developer Day


South Korea's Samsung Electronics reported on the third annual Samsung Developer Day (Day of the developer) in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, brought together more than 500 application developers from around the world.

One of the most popular sessions this year included the introduction of open API for the service Samsung Wallet, which enables mobile shopping, for example, to get boarding passes, coupons and membership cards on one single platform. Also during the session was announced partnerships with services American Airlines, Amtrak, Belly, Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Lufthansa, MLB, Stubhub and Walgreen.

EA Chillingo founders joined Samsung, to announce the launch of its new "totally independent" initiative. This program allows independent developers to distribute their programs via Samsung Apps, keep 100% of the sales revenue for the first six months after launch.

Other popular sessions at the event demonstrated AdHub - a new service designed to bring developers with revenue from advertising, and AllShare Framework - a tool to implement converged functionality of their applications running on interconnected devices. In addition, Samsung introduced the latest iteration of the S Pen SDK (Software Developer Kit) version 2.3, which allows developers to create applications that take advantage of S Pen stylus on the flagship smartphone Samsung GALAXY Note and other devices.
