Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung’s flagship for 2016 that replaces the Galaxy Note 5 (there is no Note 6!). The Note 7 has a 5.7” Super AMOLED 2560 x 1440 display that supports touch and the included S Pen (Wacom EMR active digitizer) with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The display’s sides are curved and the phone is made of Gorilla Glass 5 and metal. Like recent competing high end Android smartphones, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad core CPU with Adreno 530 graphics. It has 4 gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of internal storage plus a microSD card slot compatible with cards up to 256 gigs.

The phone has myriad features including IP68 water resistance, both a fingerprint and iris scanner, LTE 4G, WiFi calling, VoLTE, NFC, fast charging over USB-C and fast wireless charging. It has the same excellent cameras as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge: 12MP rear with 4K video recording and a front 5MP camera. This Android 6 Marshmallow phone with a much improved TouchWiz UI lists for $879 in the US and it’s available in silver, black, coral blue (gold available outside the US in some countries).
