Samsung hopes more developers engage to create new edge features

With the Galaxy Note 7 being the fourth series with a dual-edge display, Samsung hopes more developers will create edge features as it will continue to be a staple for future flagship phones, the firm's mobile boss says.

Samsung will continue to expand application of its edge display on future flagship phones and hopes more developers will engage in developing features for it, the company's mobile boss has said.

"When we applied the edge feature for the Galaxy S6 [last year], there was the problem with our yield rate and diverse reactions to it depending on region and consumer," said DJ Koh, president of Samsung's mobile division, at a press conference at the sidelines of the Unpacked event for the dual-edged Galaxy Note 7.

"But as time went by, consumers showed more and more strong positive reactions to its differentiated design and good grip," he said. "So we thought, if we could deliver ease of use and differentiated UX for the Note 7's edge, we could make the edge a prime identity for our Galaxy series."
