ASUS Design Center Presents Glow of Life at Taiwan Designers’ Week 2016

Interactive exhibition explores the ASUS design philosophy, and showcases the new ZenFone 3 Series

ASUS Design Center, the award-winning design center within ASUS, is presenting the Glow of Life exhibition at Taiwan Designers’ Week 2016, which runs from 23rd September to 2nd October, 2016 at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei.

This year’s exhibition draws its inspiration from the beauty of nature and the harmony of Zen. Glow of Life takes visitors on a journey to discover how ASUS aims to bring liveliness to users’ worlds through engaging digital experiences and innovative technology. The exhibition features a forest of illuminated tree sculptures, created by ASUS Design Center, which visitors can interact with using their smartphones to make the forest come alive in an amazing display of light and color.

Following the immersive installation, visitors will be treated to a compelling interactive product area with a unique layout that reflects the latest ASUS ZenFone 3 Series and the different design elements that went into designing the smartphones.

Glow of Life: Infuse the world with color

For the Glow of Life exhibition, ASUS Design Center created a forest of illuminated tree sculptures, each equipped with a glowing sensor that pulses and cycles through different colors representing the four seasons: pastel colors for spring, brilliant oranges and greens for summer, rich warm tones for fall, and cool whites and blues for winter. Visitors can activate each tree’s sensor using the flashlight on their smartphone.

When light hits the sensor, the color being displayed on the sensor will spread up through the trunk, simulating the effect of the tree absorbing water. The longer the flashlight is held to the sensor, the more color will be generated, spreading throughout the tree while simultaneously projecting the seasonal color on the wall behind the tree. The effect is that of leaves growing. As other visitors interact with different trees in the installation, the display will become more vivid and colorful, bringing the whole forest alive in a mesmerizing and harmonious composition of light and color.

After the creative installation, visitors will enter a dynamic product area, which illustrates ASUS Zen-inspired design philosophy of incorporating different elements to deliver incredible digital experiences, characterized by balance, harmony and accessible beauty.

The area consists of three parts, featuring the latest ASUS ZenFone 3 Series. The first part is an interactive audiovisual installation, where visitors can use ZenFone 3 Ultra to trigger the sounds and visual effects of the four seasons to compose a harmonious experience. Each season will have its own unique sound and visual elements, as will each phone.

The second part highlights the craftsmanship of the ASUS Design Center, displaying ZenFone 3 Deluxe, while the third and final part showcases the three natural states of water — liquid, ice and gas — as the design inspirations for ZenFone 3 Special Edition.
