Mitac International sues SingTel for alleged Mio trademark infringement
Taiwan-based Mitac International has filed a charge against Singapore Telecom (SingTel) over alleged infringement of its trademark Mio in Singapore, and the High Court of the Singapore Supreme Court held an initial hearing on November 25, according to the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News (EDN).
Mitac International registered Mio in Singapore in 2003 and 2005 for marketing its products, including PCs, PC peripherals, PDAs, LCD TVs, handsets and GPS devices, in the market, EDN indicated. But SingTel has used Mio in promoting its web and TV services, including Mio Plan, MioHome, MioTV and Mio Voice, EDN said, adding Mitac declined to comment on case for the time being.
