Motorola and Mada Roll-Out WiMAX in Jordan
Motorola designs, deploys and optimizes end-to-end WiMAX solution for Mada
AMMAN, Jordan – 26 November 2008 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) and Mada today announced they have started the roll-out of an end-to-end 802.16e-based WiMAX network Deployment began in September, and Mada is expected to launch WiMAX services before the end of 2008.
Mada will use the end-to-end Motorola WiMAX solution to deliver fixed and nomadic voice and data services to residential and enterprise customers. In addition, Motorola has designed a wholesale model, enabling Mada to offer WiMAX services to other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Jordan, expanding the potential of the WiMAX network and increasing revenues for Mada.
Ali Amer, vice president sales, Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, Motorola Home & Networks Mobility said, “Motorola’s WiMAX solution will bring one big, ‘never-ending’ hot spot to Jordan, accelerating the delivery of personal media experiences to Mada’s customers, whether they are at home, in the office or on the move. Today’s announcement further solidifies Motorola’s global WiMAX leadership position.”
Mr. Charles Hage, the Managing Director of MADA said, “WiMAX is changing the way the telecommunications industry connects people. By untethering the broadband connection, WiMAX enables us to deliver voice and data services wherever our customers want. Motorola’s technical expertise, backed by its global WiMAX deployment experience ensures we will be able to offer the Jordanian public compelling new services.”
Motorola will supply equipment from its WiMAX portfolio including WiMAX access points – the WAP 400 and WAP 800 which features smart antenna technology for improved performance and reliability in high interference environments. In addition, Mada has selected both indoor and outdoor customer premise equipment and portable plug-in devices - the indoor CPEi 750, outdoor CPEo 400, and the award winning USB plug-in device USBw 100 – enabling choice and flexibility for Mada customers to connect to the WiMAX network.
Also, Motorola will integrate its WiMAX Access Service Network (ASN) Gateway which provides a critical piece of the end-to-end WiMAX network architecture connecting the WiMAX radio access network to a common IP core for reduced cost and quicker time to market. Motorola Global Services will plan, design and optimize the end-to-end WiMAX solution to ensure peak performance of the network.
