Ericsson, Samsung settle dispute
Putting an end to a history of litigious sparring, mobile communications giants Ericsson and Samsung Electronics announced that they have made amends and inked a comprehensive cross-licensing deal for their argued over technologies, an Electronic News report said.
The report said Ericsson has granted South Korea-based Samsung a non-exclusive license under Ericsson's patent portfolio for the 2G and 3G mobile telephony standards, to develop, manufacture and sell 2G and 3G subscriber and infrastructure equipment.
In return, Samsung has provided a royalty payment and a reciprocal license under Samsung's patent portfolio to Ericsson.
Ericsson and Samsung said they have further agreed to dismiss all pending patent infringement lawsuits between them, the report said.
