Samsung China Commits to Helping Sichuan Earthquake Relief Efforts, Donates RMB 30 Million to Red Cross
BEIJING, /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Samsung China and all its
employees share in China's deep grief in the aftermath of the earthquake
which hit Sichuan Province on Monday. We send our heartfelt wishes for the
fast recovery of damaged areas and our hopes that families may be reunited
with their loved ones.
To support relief efforts and help China rapidly recover from the
disaster, Samsung China has committed to the following:
1. Samsung China will donate RMB 30 Million to Sichuan Province through
the International Red Cross.
2. Upon the request of many Samsung employees, in addition to Samsung
China's corporate donation of RMB 30 Million, we are also organizing
a fundraising drive among all Samsung staff. We will determine what
part of the relief effort this additional donation will best support.
3. Disaster area conditions permitting, Samsung Group will send 3119
Emergency Relief Teams (Samsung 119 Emergency Relief Teams)
supported by search dogs and medical teams to Sichuan. Samsung 3119
Emergency Relief Teams have extensive search and rescue experience
in Korea and other countries around the world.
4. Upon the request of Samsung employees, we will also arrange blood
donations and other volunteer programs. In addition, Samsung has
already deployed several Beijing-based employees to work closely
with our Sichuan-based staff to support in the examination of vital
home electronics.
5. Samsung Group will send 5,000 emergency aid kits and 15,000
emergency blankets, in the value of RMB 1 Million, through its
partnership with the Korean Red Cross.
