Acer expected to ship two million netbooks in 3Q08
Acer's Aspire one netbook is expected to break worldwide shipments of one million units in September, while total shipments in the third quarter will break two million units, according to market watchers.
In addition to the US and Europe, the company has also set up channels in emerging markets including India.
Acer is planning to offer the Aspire one with a built-in 3G module in Taiwan in November this year. Initially the model will be sold in cooperation with Taiwan Mobile (TWM), according to notebook industry sources.
Acer has adopted Qualcomm's 3G chip. Pricing is expected to be NT$3,000 (US$94.33) more than the standard model, but will see a drop of over NT$5,000 as part of a bundle deal with 3G services, added the sources.
