Huawei Drives Commercialization of HSPA+ Technologies at P&T/EXPO COMM CHINA 2008
[Beijing, China – 31 October 2008] Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, exhibited its innovative mobile broadband solutions - including DORA, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA＋, WiMAX and LTE technologies - at P&T/EXPOCOMM CHINA2008 that was held in Beijing, China from October 21-25, 2008.
"Convergence, Broadband, Green and Evolution" has become Huawei' s core development mantra in the mobile broadband area. As an advanced global supplier to the GSM/WCDMA/HSPA/LTE industry, Huawei is dedicated to cooperating with leading carriers and silicon chip vendors to drive the commercialization of HSPA+ at P&T/EXPOCOMM CHINA 2008. Huawei also demonstrated HSPA+ technologies using its 4th Generation BTS together with Qualcomm' s MDM8200™ product which is capable of supporting data rates of up to 28 Mbps in the downlink and 11 Mbps in the uplink. Huawei' s demonstrations showed that HD video can be transmitted with HSPA+ data speeds maintaining a high-quality image.

In May 2008, StarHub appointed Huawei to expand and upgrade its nationwide 3.5G mobile broadband network to HSPA+ by the second quarter of 2009. This means that StarHub's mobile network will soon be able to offer better overall mobile coverage across the entire island of Singapore, both indoors and outdoors, and support even larger volumes of data traffic than the current offerings in the market. HSPA+ will boost StarHub's mobile broadband capabilities by as much as 1.5 times to 21 Mbps (from the current 14.4 Mbps) on the downlink, and boost its uplink capability fivefold to 11 Mbps (from the current 1.9 Mbps).
As of September 2008, and as one of Top 3 players in the global mobile market, Huawei' s mobile solutions have served more than 500 million customers from the world's top mobile operators.
During EXPO COMM CHINA 2008, Huawei showcased its end-to-end mobile solutions based on an ALL-IP platform and its 4th Generation Base Transceiver Station (BTS) products, which have been widely deployed by operators worldwide, including the BTS3900, with its energy saving benefits, and the DBS3900, which can be flexibly deployed. The 4th Generation BTS' s can also support multi-mode mobile networks to achieve network integration and help operators undergo smooth network evolution bringing low-cost mobile broadband access to their customers.
