Media Advisory: Red Bend to Demo Firmware Updating on New Nokia and Motorola Mobile Phones at Symbian Smartphone Show
Interactive Demos Also Include Industry’s First Background Updating Capability
WALTHAM, Mass.—Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile software Management (MSM), announced that the company is exhibiting at the Symbian Smartphone Show next week and offering several interactive demos that show how firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating works on the latest Nokia and Motorola handsets that are based on the Symbian operating system. Red Bend is also demonstrating the industry’s first Background Updating capability, enabling FOTA updates to be delivered to consumers’ phones while they are still in use. Because FOTA updating delivers new features and software improvements, it is a commercial market success that has been adopted worldwide by both device manufacturers and operators.
Red Bend also was selected to participate in the “developer trail” of Mobile DevFest, Symbian’s premier conference for developers, which runs in conjunction with the Smartphone Show. Delegates will receive a registration map highlighting must-see demos throughout the Smartphone Show. Targeted toward product creation developers, Red Bend’s demos will show how FOTA software works on some of the latest UIQ and S60 phones.
