Nokia Siemens Networks on track with GSM-R Third-quarter deals demonstrate strength of railways solution
Nokia Siemens Networks won third-quarter deals in Spain, the Netherlands and China for its GSM-Railway telecommunications solution stretching its market-leading influence on rail to over 50,000km of track over more than 20 networks in 15 countries.
The deal signed with ProRail in the Netherlands in September, incorporating network design, site acquisition, construction works, logistics and project management that will result in a complete network upgrade within three years completed a strong quarter for Nokia Siemens Networks in GSM-R. ProRail further invests in GSM-R
Earlier in the month the implementation of a GSM-R system alongside key communications subsystem integration on the Beijing – Tianjin line allowed China to unveil its fastest railway line – a 350km per hour link which opened shortly before the Olympics to cater for the increase in traffic at the event. China accelerates railway development with key communication system
And in July Nokia Siemens Networks agreed to provide, operate and maintain a complete railway mobile communications solution for Spain’s rail administration ADIF to cover some 450 kilometers of the newly constructed high-speed tracks linking Madrid with the cities of Valencia and Albacete. That project illustrates the strength of the Nokia Siemens Networks GSM-R solution which ensures passenger safety and railway traffic efficiency, while reducing operational costs. Spain to extend leading edge wireless railway communication
The Nokia Siemens Networks GSM-Railway (GSM-R) solution mobilizes and unites digital communications for railways by carrying signaling and operational information directly to train operators, enabling faster speeds and greater traffic density.
