Mobily Builds its IP/MPLS Unified Core Network with Huawei' s NE5000E Core Router
[Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 26 November 2008] Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it assisted Mobily, one of the major mobile operators in Saudi Arabia, to successfully deploy an IP/MPLS unified core network, providing the operator with total cost of ownership (TCO) savings and its customers a better service experience.
Mobily is a full service operator with wired and wireless broadband data services, but its voice service and data services used to be run through two separate bearer networks, which brings the increase of OPEX and CAPEX. Huawei has supplied six NetEngine 5000E ("NE5000E") core routers to deploy the nationwide bearer network in response to this. It enables the operator to deploy an IP/MPLS unified core network to pave the way for fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) evolution for Mobily.
"The deployment of the unified IP/MPLS core network is very significant for Mobily to develop FMC services in the future. Mobily has maintained good cooperation with Huawei in various areas. For the current project, Mobily has again chosen Huawei because of its rich experience in core router and its adequate understanding of our needs." said Abdulaziz Al Tamami, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mobily.
Huawei' s NE5000E is the industry's first 10Tbps switch capacity based core router which can be expanded from single chassis to B2B chassis and multi chassis with flexible scalability that meets the demands of Mobily's constantly-growing ultra-broadband service requirements. The NE5000E also implements green technologies, which can reduce the power consumption and TCO for operators, and meets the requirements of New Generation Networks on bandwidth performance, service quality and service provision capabilities.
"The integration of bearer networks for voice and data is the basis for an all-service operation," commented Mr. Liu Qi, CEO of Huawei Saudi Arabia Representative Office. "We are delighted to continue to cooperate with Mobily in the IP area and hope to offer more quality services to Mobily in the future."
Huawei's Quidway series data communication products have been widely deployed in 102 countries or regions, and have been adopted in the national backbone networks of many countries including Germany, England, Russia, Spain, Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand and China.
