Nokia tops smartphone sales in China in 3Q08, says CCID
Nokia ranked as the largest vendor of PDA handsets and smartphones in China in the third quarter of 2008, accounting for 69.3% share of the segment, according to data released by CCID Consulting as cited by the Chinese-language Commercial Times. Motorola followed with a 19.9% share and Dopod China with a 4.7% share.
Overall, sales of PDA handsets and smartphones in the China market edged up only 0.6% sequentially to 7.48 million units in the third quarter, accounting for 19% of China's entire handset market, CCID said. In terms of sales value, PDA handsets and smartphones totaled 182 million yuan (US$26.65 million) in the third quarter, up 4.5% on quarter.
