Vodafone + Western Union = mobile remittances
Recently, the worldwide mobility of the population has increased significantly, resulting in increased migration, including labor. This process can feel and the people of our country, because, according to different estimates, Russia has worked 10 to 15 million migrant workers, mainly from CIS countries. This category of people very often use the services of international money transfers, helping families and loved ones left at home.
One of the leading European operators, Vodafone plans to launch a joint pilot program with Western Union, known worldwide through its system of remittances. Thus, under this program, residents of British Reading will be able to send remittances using a mobile phone to relatives and friends in Kenya, where Vodafone owns 40% of the local operator Safaricom Ltd. If successful, this initiative, the program will eventually spread to other countries. So perhaps, to send money from one country to another through a mobile phone is as simple as send SMS-message.
