Alcatel-Lucent to bridge Taiwan CPE makers into WiMAX network in Cambodia
Alcatel-Lucent will enlist WiMAX CPE products as well as netbooks and EDGE/WiMAX dual-mode handsets made by Taiwan makers into the supply chain of the planned WiMAX network which it will install for Cambodian telecom operator Chuan Wei, according to sources at Alcatel-Lucent Taiwan.
Alcatel-Lucent's current WiMAX CPE partners in Taiwan, including Zyxel Communications, Accton Wireless Broadband (AWB), and Quanta Microsystems, will be included in the supply chain, the sources indicated.
In addition, WiMAX-enabled netbooks designed and developed by VIA Technologies and its production partners as well as netbooks and EDGE/WiMAX dual-mode handsets from Elitegroup Computer System (ECS) will be also enlisted, the sources noted.
WiMAX CPE products from Zyxel, AWB and Quanta Microsystems have already secured the SIACS (seal of interoperability acceptance for commercial services) certification from Alcatel-Lucent, with three additional Taiwan companies expected to receive the certification by the end of March this year, said the sources.
