Hitachi acquired Fabrik
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) announced its decision to acquire Fabrik, Inc., A private company for the production of personal and professional storage devices. Fabrik, producing hard drives under brand G-Technology, and SimpleTech, Hitachi must ensure a stable position on fast-growing market of external storage devices.
According to the forecasts of the analytical company IDC, the volume of shipments of personal storage devices worldwide will grow from 52 million in 2008 to 123 million in 2012, Financial details of the transaction, the completion is expected early in the second quarter of 2009, is not disclosed.
Fabrik Company will retain the structure of the business and become the nucleus of the new direction of Hitachi GST for the production of external drives. Hitachi GST will provide full support to product lines and G-Technology SimpleTech and contribute to the presence in the market a broad range of products.
