Acer DX900 Dual Sim WM Phone Test And Review

A kind PPCSG forumer has done a test on the Acer/Glofiish DX900 Dual Sim Card Phone which has debutted in the IT Show in Singapore. He was able to run a Starhub Broadband Mobile SIM Card and a Starhub 3G SIM card for phone calls together on the phone. As shown in the photo he took below, one of the slot is 3G enabled and the other slot is just 2G enabled. This is how he goes about it -he puts his broadband mobile SIM card in the 3G slot and his phone SIM in the 2G slot. He can actually see 2 phone signals on the SPB screen or today screen. However, he is not able to make any video call with his 3G phone card alto he can send/receive calls. He noted that it will be great if the 2nd SIM slot can support a 3G card as there were be people using it to make video calls. Other observations he made: Battery life is quite poor, fully charge from 1am in the morning and used the phone for 45 mins of call time, and by 8.30am the phone was left with 70 percent of batt life. (But to me it seems ok, 45 mins of call time draining 30 % of battery juice seems reasonable). He also felt that the phone touch screen is kinda stiff like Samsung Omnia but then still acceptable. Phone is slightly laggy as compared to HTC Touch HD as it has only 128 MB. So if video calls are not important to you, the DX900 may be a good choice if you wish to surf Internet often without incurring a large bill and also able to make/receive phone calls at the same time.
