AT&T U-verse Honored with Two IPTV World Series Awards for Innovative Service and Subscriber Growth
AT&T* today announced that AT&T U-verseSM has been awarded two 2009 IPTV World Series Awards. AT&T U-verse Total Home DVR was named Most Innovative New Service, and AT&T U-verse TV was recognized for the Best Subscriber Growth Achievement for 2008.
The IPTV World Series Awards recognize the contribution of technology and service suppliers to the growth of Internet Protocol (IP) TV, and celebrate outstanding achievements in the global IPTV market. The IPTV World Series Awards winners were announced March 25 at the 2009 IPTV World Forum in London.
"We're extremely proud to receive these awards because it shows we're delivering valuable and innovative services that today's consumers demand," said Jeff Weber, AT&T vice president of video products. "AT&T U-verse has always been about delivering a new and better TV choice, and in addition to the response we're getting from customers, these awards further validate that we're on the right track."
AT&T rolled out Total Home DVR in 2008 and it is now available to all U-verse TV customers. Total Home DVR allows U-verse TV customers to play back recorded Standard Definition and High Definition (HD) shows from a single DVR on any connected TV in the home. In December 2008, AT&T U-verse TV reached the milestone of one million customers, adding a total of 814,000 subscribers in 2008.
AT&T U-verse has received a positive response from customers since its introduction, and the IPTV World Series Awards is the latest accolade for the service. AT&T U-verse TV also ranked "Highest in Residential Television Service Satisfaction in the North Central, South, and West Regions," according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Residential Television Service Provider Satisfaction StudySM.
AT&T's U-verse deployment is rapidly introducing competitive choice and next-generation services to more consumers. AT&T U-verse customers enjoy quadruple-play integration, enhanced features and greater value, all made possible by IP technology.
