Huawei Deploys 3G Network for Cricket Communications in Chicago and Milwaukee

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leading company in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it has deployed a 3G wireless network in Chicago, Ill. for Cricket Communications, Inc. a subsidiary of Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ: LEAP), a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless communications services. This deployment follows a successful launch in Milwaukee, Wisc. last fall.

"Huawei has an impressive track record and has already demonstrated it by having successfully deployed solutions for our Northwest markets in 2007," said Glenn Umetsu, Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Leap.

"We value highly the long-term relationship we have with Cricket. We have achieved an important milestone with our commitment and ability to support our customers in North American markets."

The network includes Huawei's Dual Homing Softswitch, Media Gateway and 3900 Series Base Station subsystems. Huawei's industry-leading 3900 Series base station has been widely deployed globally since end of 2007. This base station platform supports multiple technologies including LTE, CDMA, GSM/EDGE, UMTS/HSPA, and WiMAX, providing customers with efficient solutions.

Huawei wireless leadership includes being awarded the world's first LTE contract by TeliaSonera.
