IMAGINATION brings advanced graphics to Omnia HD
Imagination Technologies, the multimedia chip technologies company, and Samsung worked together to demonstrate the revolutionary graphics capabilities of the new Samsung OmniaHD at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
“The OmniaHD sets a new a new paradigm in mobile phone graphics”, explains Tony King-Smith, Imagination’s Marketing Vice-President. “We are thrilled to be working with Samsung to provide demonstrations of the graphics power in, and comprehensive SDK support for, its latest phone – which is the first to deliver shader-graphics support on a mobile handset.”
In these demonstrations you can see stunning shader-based graphics capabilities which truly take mobile phone graphics to the next level thanks to Imagination’s POWERVR SGX graphics core. For more information on how you can utilise this technology in your own applications, check out the Developing for OmniaHD article in our Symbian Knowledge Base.
“Imagination has a reputation for providing industry leading SDKs, tools and dedicated technical support for devices including POWERVR technology and we are delighted that they are supporting Samsung handsets with both their SDK and OpenGL ES 2.0 demos, which will be on show at MWC 2009” said Sanj Matharu, who looks after Global Relations at Samsung Mobile Innovator.
Demonstrations of OpenGL ES 2.0 shader-graphics content created with Imagination’s development tools will be on show at Imagination’s stand at MWC, Hall 2 #2A05.
If you aren’t fortunate enough to be there in person don’t worry as Samsung Mobile Innovator has some exclusive footage of two of the demonstrations below.
Imagination’s POWERVR Insider SDK (software development kit) – a comprehensive set of graphics application development tools – supports a range of Samsung handsets including the GT-i8510 and GT-i7110, and now the OmniaHD. The POWERVR Insider SDK is the leading SDK and toolset for mobile 3D graphics development.
The POWERVR Insider SDK is fully compliant with the Khronos OpenGL ES 2.0 API which is supported, for the first time in the mobile market, by the new Samsung phones. A comprehensive SDK is offered which includes tutorials, source code, documentation, platform abstraction framework and a valuable tools library.
