Huawei and China Telecom Launched China' s First Commercial 3G Services across 52 Cities

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions worldwide, joined with China Telecom today to announce the commercial launch of new 3G CDMA networks in many of China' s largest cities and regions.

Using Huawei' s equipment, China Telecom' s 3G CDMA services are now available for the first time in 52 cities, including 8 of the largest 10 cities in China, such as Beijing, Tianjin and the Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong and Shaanxi provinces. Huawei' s innovative 3G CDMA network solutions have enabled China Telecom to upgrade its existing CDMA2000 1X networks to 3G EV-DO while lowering deployment costs and ensuring uninterrupted services.

"It is very exciting to see 3G CDMA services going live for the first time across China and Huawei is proud to have contributed to this important milestone," said Zhao Ming, Vice President of Wireless, Huawei. "There is no doubt that these world-class mobile communications technologies will generate enormous economic and social benefits for China. Huawei was recently awarded the largest share of China Telecom' s 3G related contracts and also has the highest market share in China' s CDMA infrastructure and terminal market. Huawei is supporting all three operators in China deploy a new generation of innovative and customized mobile communications services in this fast-growing market.
