Country Duo Montgomery Gentry to Give Famous Command at NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race XXV

Sprint Customer to Serve as Honorary Starter.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. ― Sprint announced Grammy nominated country duo Montgomery Gentry will serve as grand marshals for the 25th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 16 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, and one lucky Sprint customer will be randomly selected to wave the green flag at the start of the race.

Composed of Kentucky natives Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry, the duo has released more than 20 charted singles with five of them reaching No. 1. Montgomery Gentry is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their platinum-selling first album, Tattoos and Scars, this year and recently released the top-10 single “One in Every Crowd.”

"Being asked to be grand marshals for the Sprint All-Star race is just awesome,” Montgomery said. “We've never gotten the chance to yell 'Gentlemen, start your engines' before, and for it to be at the Sprint All-Star Race, what an exciting race to be a part of.”

As part of the grand marshal role, the duo will be recognized during pre-race introductions, give the famous command for drivers to start their engines and ride in the grand marshal car leading the field during the ceremonial parade laps.

"Yeah, starting the race and getting a chance to do a pace lap will be pretty incredible,” Gentry said. “After we're done rockin’ the Jim Beam pre-race concert, that will be a great way to finish out the day.” The Grammy-nominated duo will perform a one-hour concert presented by Jim Beam at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) May 16 in the infield of Lowe’s Motor Speedway between Turns 1 and 2. Admission to the concert is free with the purchase of a ticket to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Also, one lucky Sprint customer will be randomly selected on race day to serve as honorary starter for the historic race. The winner will be selected from a group of 2,000 Sprint customers who won tickets to the event through a Sprint promotion earlier this year. The customer will be on the flag stand waving the green flag to the start the 100-lap, four-segment event.

Tickets for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race start at $25 and are available at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com or by calling 800-455-FANS.
