NTT Docomo Summer 2009 Collection

Well, it's that time of the year again, Summer-time! Over the past 2 weeks alot has been leaked regarding NTT Docomo's upcoming Summer 2009 line-up, but it was only yesterday night that some substantial information and brochure scans was been shared on those japanese boards that I frequent, so as usual I will be doing an early coverage thread for the Summer 2009 line-up for Docomo this year, just like what I did for the previous 2 seasons. More information will be edited and added on later to this thread once the official NTT Docomo press conferences goes live next week.

I have also included a brief introduction summary and short re-cap regarding the 4 main product lines series by NTT Docomo, in case anyone who's stumbling upon this thread is unfamiliar or new with NTT Docomo keitais or are intending to upgrade from the older 905i/906i series and has never looked up or seen any of the previous Winter season line-up models before. NTT Docomo has also seemingly unveiled a new marketing campaign for their Summer handsets this time titled Enjoy Docomo!, together with a new website as well probably to introduce their Summer line-up handsets, so the respective links and information will be provided as below.

NTT Docomo's products re-organisation, introducing the 4 main product line-up series,
There are 4 main product line categories this time, known as Prime , Style, Smart and Pro series. Compared to last time previously, where there's only the FOMA 90Xi and 70Xi line-up series which are 2 different product line-ups by NTT Docomo each spec-ed accordingly to their high-end flagships and low-end flagships handsets. This time currently NTT Docomo has decided to come out with 4 different line-ups, to suit each consumer audience different needs.
There will be no show from Sony Ericsson (SE Mobile Communications Japan) and Mitsubishi respectively this time round as usual. Sony Ericsson may be taking a break from contractual agreements with NTT Docomo for the time-being due to earlier reports, but they are still making handsets in Japan for japanese operator au KDDI so it is unknown whether this is just a temporary stance or a long-term interruption. As for Mitsubishi Electric, they definitely won't be back for the japanese market due to its domestic decline in its handset sales.

NTT Docomo's new corporate advertising stance, the Answer motto campaign
So what is Answer? Well no pun intended, but the answer can be found here. NTT Docomo seemingly started this new advertising motto campaign somewhere in May 2008 this year IIRC, shortly after their new corporate logo change in April 2008, which the color red usually symbolises for energy and dynamism, which I believe that's what they are aiming for.
Ever since start of May this year, they had already come up with several advertising campaign CMs for their new Answer motto, which all of them can be viewed here.
Lastly but not least, if anyone's wondering why the naming convention for each of the latest Winter handset model ends with a letter 'A' at the back, well it's doesn't take a genius to make a rough guess that it's part of the Answer marketing campaign as well.

NTT Docomo's new Summer 2009 line-up series release, let's enjoy Docomo!
Official Press Announcement date will be on the 19th May 2009, do refer to http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/corporate..._presentation/ for more information.
New viral marketing website for their new Summer line-up series, which will all be unveiled on http://enjoy-docomo.jp/teaser/pc/index.html from the 20th of May onwards.
New OS interface improvements for this season handsets. Battery level indicator is now been changed from default 3 bar levels to 5 bar levels, and also supports showing in percentage mode. (*only applies to following supported models: SH-05A, SH-06A, SH-07A, P-07A, P-08A, F-09A, N-06A, N-08A, N-09A*)
New OS will now give display alert notices when your battery pack is detected faulty and has to be replaced with a new one. (*only applies to SH/F/P series, rumour for now*)
The introduction of more waterproof-based models from 3 popular japanese manufacturers. This season there will be at least 3 model selections under NTT Docomo that are certified waterproof for your unique lifestyle needs, they are SH-05A, P-10A, F-08A.
More 'ang moh æ´¾' models introduced this time round such as the HTC Magic aka Android G2, and this also marks the first Toshiba debut on NTT Docomo line-up history with their new 1Ghz-powered smartphone TG01, known as the T-01A in Japan.

Products Release Dates (NOTE: The above leaked picture chart regarding the schedules dates for each individual model may not be accurate afterall, but this is what is known/leaked so far so you can just mark your calendars. For more up-to-date information please refer to NTT Docomo's official product pages mentioned below for their expected sale dates instead, or after the official press announcement is released on the 19th of May)

Prime Series: http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/foma/prime/
Style Series: http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/foma/style/
Smart Series: http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/foma/smart/
Pro Series: http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/foma/pro/

SH-05A: Style Series. 8MP waterproof-based clamshell model. Sharp's first waterproof keitai entry for NTT Docomo, in traditional flip style with no dual-axis or rotatable hinges. (ala Softbank 930SH form-factor)

Comes with 0.8-inch external LCD display on the exterior frontal with on-board monaural speaker (no stereo speakers unlike SH-06A/07A) and uses the same battery pack as SH-01A/03A models (800mAh capacity). Certified IPX5 and IPX7 standard water-proofing.

SH-06A: Prime Series. Sharp's camera-focused flag-ship model with new AQUOS SHOT branding and also SH-03A's direct successor but design-wise it's back to traditional hinge this time round (seems like Sharp heard abt the internet uproars regarding its reverse hinges models from various old-time fans??), shares equivalent white paper specs as Softbank 933SH. No built-in fingerprint recognition unlike the SH-01A/03A models. (personal thoughts: fingerprint recognition might be taken out by Sharp due to it impairing the touchcruiser function on the SH-01A/03A models, at least this has been brought up before and mentioned by certain owners on the japanese boards)

Comes with 0.8-inch external LCD display on the exterior frontal like SH-05A, also spots a proper camera-shutter button this time round (Sharp PR must have heard my complain when I was talking abt the SH-03A in the Winter thread). VeilView function has been enhanced from default black & white color on prev models to 64 colors now, meaning the built-in privacy filter now comes with coloured patterns. (applies to SH-05A, SH-06A, SH-07A models)

Battery capacity however has been reduced to 700mAh only this time round, my advice for camera-lover enthusiasts be prepared to purchase a spare battery along with this handset if you're intending to cam-whore with this phone. (low battery cap + CCD sensor = killer combo)

Added new titbits: There will be a SH-06A NERV Alternate Limited Edition model, might have some links to the popular Neon Genesis Evangelion anime franchise by GAINAX but I can't confirm anything for now until the official press announcement next week. Early leaks shows that this edition will be in purple colour, with some exclusive designs at the exterior frontal area. Nothing much else is known abt it yet but expect it to share the form-factor and overall hardware specs as the SH-06A itself.

SH-07A: Pro Series. Sharp's Cycloid-based AQUOS keitai flag-ship model, still reverse-hinge based and also SH-01A's direct successor. Comes with 2GB memory on-board and spots the new 10MP CCD module as well but do expect overall camera options to be minimised as compared to SH-06A. (just like the camera imaging differences btw SH-03A & 01A previously)

Sharp will also be bundling a pretty gigantic speaker set dock charger together along with the original retail of the SH-07A, see the brochure scans for more details on this.
