TPO and Wintek land orders from Nokia
TPO Displays has reportedly received 3.5-inch TFT-LCD panel orders for Nokia's N97 handset, while Wintek has received capacitive touch panel orders from the vendor, according to market sources.
Wintek, which supplies resistive touch panels for Nokia's 5800, will provide capacitive touch panels for another Nokia handset, the sources noted.
Although Nokia in the fourth quarter of 2008 trimmed its 2009 handset shipments estimation as the company was conservative about the global handset market, Nokia started to place rush orders in March and has actively resumed product development projects, the sources added.
Panel makers are expecting more orders as Nokia is expected to launch new handsets in the second quarter, the sources said.
