Taiwan market: Motorola launches three new handsets
Motorola launched three new handsets, the Ming A1210, a new version of the Moto Surf A3100 and the W7, in the Taiwan market on June 17. The Ming A1210 was developed by Motorola's R&D team in Beijing, the new A3100 is a touch-enabled smartphone outsourced to Compal Communications, and the W7 is an entry-level 3G handset manufactured by Qisda, according to market sources.
Motorola expects the launch of the three handsets will help the company maintain and even boost its share in the local market, according to Ritchie Ma, general manager of mobile devices business, Motorola Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Motorola plans to introduce its first Android-powered handset into the Taiwan market in the fourth quarter of 2009 and launch two to three additional Google phones in the first quarter of 2010, Ma revealed.
All of Motorola's Android-powered handsets will come with a touchscreen display and support 3.5G technology, and yet will be available in diversified form factors, Ma indicated.
