ABI Research Launches ABI Forums with Mobile Device Evolution Event

ABI Research announces the launch of ABI Forums, a senior management-focused events company. ABI Forums will leverage the ABI Research brand, a broad portfolio of market intelligence and quantitative analytics, and a team of leading analysts who are already well known in the global technology and connectivity conference arena.

The first event, “Mobile Device Evolution” will be held November 3-4, 2009 at the Sentosa Resort & Spa in Singapore. Bringing together executives from across the Asia-Pacific region, it will focus on the ongoing development of mobile devices from new mobile platforms, applications and software, to the emergence of the “low cost” smartphone. The event will be led by ABI Research’s Stuart Carlaw (Chief Research Officer), Kevin Burden (Practice Director, Mobile Devices), and Jake Saunders (Vice President of Forecasting).

Launching the forum group at what appears to be the middle or end of a tough recession is characteristic of ABI Research’s approach. “ABI Research was formed in the middle of the ‘90/’91 recession,” says ABI Research president and founder Tim Archdeacon, “so launching an undertaking like this isn’t new territory for us. The timing is right, the interest is there, and we have the brand, the people and the knowledge to execute this and make it a successful learning and networking experience for our clients and other forum participants.”

ABI Forums plans to run theme-specific forums in AP, Europe and the Americas, with its initial focus in the AP region. Saunders, who heads the firm’s Singapore-based AP division, adds, “There is tremendous growth in the mobile technology industry in Asia-Pac today and we believe ABI Research is in a good position to bring together the critical players from China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan whose influence on the global wireless industry is only growing.”
