Chunghwa Telecom capex to reach NT$20 billion for 2H09
Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) recorded capital expenditure (capex) of NT$10.3 billion (NT$314 million) during the first half of 2009, and plans to spend another NT$20 billion in the second half on work to continue the establishment of next-generation networks, 3.5G base stations and fiber-optic infrastructure, according to the company.
CHT's consolidated revenues for the first half dropped 3.7% on year to NT$97.18 billion, with net profit decreasing 4.2% on year to NT$22.26 billion, the company disclosed at an investors conference on August 27.
As of the end of June 2009, CHT had 9.04 million mobile communication subscribers, of which 4.1 million, or 34.5%, were 3G ones, CHT said.
