Renowned Chefs Cat Cora, Jonathan Lindenauer and Richard Blais to Judge LG Electronics' National Culinary Competition

Last Call for Recipes! Only One Week Left to Submit Entries for LG's 'Taste of Something Better' Cooking Competition.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., -- With only one week remaining for America's amateur chefs to submit their favorite home recipes - and with a world-class team of celebrity chefs behind the judging table - the pressure is on.

Bon Appetit Executive Chef Cat Cora, Bon Appetit Chef de Cuisine Jonathan Lindenauer and Top Chef's Richard Blais have signed on to serve as judges at the LG Electronics "Taste of Something Better" recipe contest and cooking competition taking place in the LG Kitchen at the Bon Appetit Supper Club & Cafe(R) on Sept. 25. The contest celebrates original recipes from amateur chefs across the nation, challenging top entrants to a cook-off at this annual epicurean event by submitting their recipe at www.lgcookbetter.com. Finalists will compete for an impressive array of prizes, as well as a spot in LG's "Life Tastes Good" global cooking competition taking place later this year in Bangkok, Thailand.

To enter the contest, home chefs and cooking enthusiasts alike (no professional chefs) are asked to submit their favorite main entree recipe by Aug. 31. The three finalists will compete at the "Taste of Something Better" cook-off in New York, and the winning recipe will be selected by a panel of distinguished chefs including:

•Chef Cat Cora continues to make a lasting impression on the culinary community- both on- and off-screen. In 2005, she made television history on Food Network's Iron Chef America as the only female Iron Chef, and in November 2006 Bon Appetit bestowed her with the title of the magazine's Executive Chef. The author of Cat Cora's Kitchen and Cooking from the Hip: Fast, Easy, Phenomenal Meals, Cora is working on her third book, Classics with a Twist due to release in Spring 2010. In December 2008, Cora launched CCQ (Cat Cora's 'Que) at Macy's new Signature Kitchen restaurant in South Coast Plaza, Calif., and in 2009 she opened her first table service restaurant, "Kouzzina (Greek for 'kitchen') by Cat Cora" at Disney's BoardWalk Resort in Orlando, Fla.
•Chef Jonathan Lindenauer brings his lifelong passion for food to the Bon Appetit Culinary Studio as Chef de Cuisine. In this role, Lindenauer lends his considerable energies to menu pairings and tastings, culinary demonstrations and innovative recipe development. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America with more than a decade of experience in the kitchen, Lindenauer has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.
•Chef Richard Blais, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, has worked with some of the world's most respected chefs. An eternal student, Blais has studied in many world-class restaurants ranging from Chez Panisse to El Bulli. Blais, a recipient of Gayot Guide's 'Top Five Rising Chefs of 2005,' appeared on BRAVO's 'Top Chef,' and on the Food Network's Iron Chef America.

"Many favorite recipes are the result of passionate cooks experimenting in their kitchens at home," said Jonathan Lindenauer. "Cooking and the epicurean lifestyle are a lifelong journey, and I'm excited to be a part of the creativity that these amateur chefs bring to the LG competition."

The three chefs represent the cornerstone of the expert judging panel that will decide which home chef has what it takes to represent the United States in LG's global "Life Tastes Good" cooking competition, taking place in November. Food Network's Chic & Easy host Mary Nolan, will serve as emcee for the New York City cook-off and festivities.

Competitors in the New York City event will be testing their culinary skills for a chance to win the following prize packages:

•Grand prize: Trip for two to Thailand to compete in LG's global cooking competition, a premium LG kitchen package, including gas cooktop, double wall oven, 4-door French-door refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave oven, along with $1,000 to enjoy while in New York for the competition.
•Runner-up: LG premium appliance package including gas cooktop, double wall oven and 4-door French-door refrigerator, along with $1,000 to enjoy while in New York.
•Second runner-up: LG double wall oven, along with $1,000 to enjoy while in New York.
