Taiwan market: Handset sales up 10% sequentially in July 2009

Sales of handsets in the Taiwan market grew by 10% sequentially in July from 536,700 shipped in June, but were down 3.3% compared to a year earlier, according to data compiled by retail channels in Taiwan.

However, the share of the iPhone 3G in terms of sales value dropped to 2% in July from 4.5% in June as consumers were waiting for the launch of the iPhone 3GS scheduled at the end of August, the data showed.

Nokia remained the top handset vendor in the local market, taking up an over 30% share in terms of unit sales, the data indicated.
