IBEW Votes to Ratify Contract Agreement
AT&T* is pleased to announce that core wireline employees have voted to ratify a three-year agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. The agreement covers about 8,900 employees.
Roughly half of the 120,000 employees covered under AT&T's core wireline contracts now have ratified or tentative agreements. In addition to the IBEW agreement, agreements between AT&T and the Communications Workers of America have been ratified in the Midwest and West regions, and a tentative agreement with the CWA is pending ratification by Legacy AT&T Corp. employees.
The four agreements are proof that, even in tough economic times and in the midst of major changes in the marketplace and in our industry, the company and unions can work together to maintain good union jobs with wages and benefits that are among the best in the country.
Employees covered under the contract are spread across the country with the majority — about 8,650 — in IBEW Local 21 in Illinois and northwestern Indiana.
We applaud the negotiating teams for their hard work in reaching this agreement, and the membership for recognizing that it was a fair and reasonable agreement and voting for ratification. Other districts continue to negotiate, and we look forward to reaching agreements there soon.
