Ericsson to launch HSDPA+ mobile broadband modules in 2010

Ericsson will launch HSDPA+ mobile broadband modules with download speeds of up to 21Mbps in 2010, with plans to also roll out LTE modules in 2011-2012, according to Mats Norin, vice president and head of mobile broadband module unit at Ericsson.

Having only ventured into the mobile module segment for two years, Ericsson's broadband modules have already made their way into products from Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, LG Electronics (LGE), Norin noted.

In Taiwan, Ericsson has shipped broadband modules to MicroStar International (MSI), Clevo and Wistron for netbooks, all-in-one PCs and mobile Internet devices (MIDs), said Norin, noting that the company is also in talks with other PC makers, including Acer and Asustek Computer for cooperation on built-in mobile modules.
