Taiwan-based mobile telecom carriers to attend Mobile Asia Congress
Taiwan's main mobile telecom carriers Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) and Vibo Telecom will send delegates to attend the 2009 GSM Association (GSMA) Mobile Asia Congress taking place in Hong Kong from November 18-19, according to industry sources.
The theme of the congress will focus on the next-generation LTE and TD-LTE technologies as well as green technologies, the sources noted.
The trade fair will also attract the attendance of the top executives from leading telecom operators and telecom equipment providers in Asia, including China Mobile chairman Wang Jianzhou, China Unicom chairman Chang Xiaobing, NTT DoCoMo CEO Ryuji Yamada, Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son and Huawei Technologies' president of global marketing, Kevin Tao, said the sources.
The number of mobile subscribers in Asia has exceeded two billion in 2009 and is expected to reach three billion in 2013, according to GSMA data.
