The project OLPC (One Laptop Per Child - Every child on the laptop) was established as a nonprofit organization that aims to provide every child on the planet own a computer. At the moment, she had already achieved some success, extending 1.4 million XO laptops in 35 countries. However, according to OLPC, all they would need more than 500 million devices. Towards the realization of the task the first generation of budget laptops for kids (1.0 HO) program has undergone some changes.

Model CW 1.0 in January 2010 replaced by XO 1.5, and a year of CW 1.75. This project XO 2.0, announced last month was completely abolished, but instead it was launched XO 3.0, which will be embodied "in metal" not earlier than 2012. CW Version 1.5 will be different so that the processor receives VIA, instead of AMD, and will also have a 4-fold greater level of operational and fleshevoy memory. Its cost is about $ 200. CW 1.75, will be even cheaper - its price is projected at $ 150 or less. Built computer will be ARM-based processor from Marvell. He did not succeed in producing a model XO 1.5, and will be sold in parallel.

XO 3.0 Concept device was developed by designer Yves Bear (Yves Behar) and represents a monolithic plastic panel with touch screen with dimensions of 8.5 x 11 inches. The model will be implemented in a flexible, shockproof and waterproof casing, made by Plastic Logic. It is assumed that the screen device will be manufactured by Pixel Qi. The most notable factor model should be its very low price - less than $ 100.
