Taiwan market: Sony Ericsson ranks top handset vendor in sales value in October

Sony Ericsson has unseated Nokia to take the top spot in the Taiwan handset market in terms of sales value in October 2009 with a 27% share, according to data compiled by channel sources.

Strong sales of Sony Ericsson's Satio U1, Aino U10 and Yari U100 handsets helped boost the vendor's sales value in October, said the sources.

Nokia, the second-ranked vendor in terms of sales value, took a 22.8% share. The Finland-based vendor had retained the number one position in sales value for seven months.

Samsung Electronics was the third-ranked vendor in terms of sales value with a 15.9% share, followed by Apple with a 13.6% share.

However, Nokia still remained the top vendor in terms of unit sales in October, taking up a 28.3% share, followed by Samsung with 22.4%, Sony Ericsson with 18% and LG Electronics (LGE) with 8.9%.
