Taiwan market: FET to invest NT$8.6 billion in data communication infrastructure in 2010
Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) plans to invest NT$8.6 billion (US$269 million) to expand and upgrade its infrastructure for 3G, HSPA and WiMAX, the company said at an investors conference on February 25.
FET had 216,177 subscribers of 3G and HSPA data services at the end of 2009, FET indicated. FET had 14.1% of total revenues coming from non-voice services in 2009, higher than 12.5% for Taiwan Mobile and 11.7% for Chunghwa Telecom, FET pointed out.
S Marketplace, FET's online handset application store, has attained more than 75,000 downloads cumulatively since it was launched in October 2009, with 62% made by non-FET subscribers, FET noted.
