SanDisk Acquires Pliant Technology

The company SanDisk Corporation announced the signing of a definitive agreement to buy the company Pliant Technology, Inc., A leading developer of solid-state disk (SSD) for the corporate market. In accordance with the terms of the agreement SanDisk will pay approximately U.S. $ 327 million in cash and hand over a package of securities. The deal was approved by the boards of directors of both companies and is currently in the process of registration, which includes getting approval from regulators. Full completion of the transaction is planned for the end of the second fiscal quarter of SanDisk.

Pliant company sells high-performance storage systems for the corporate market-based solid state drives using the protocol SAS. These systems comply with corporate performance, data integrity and reliability. The company also plans to market solutions based on the PCIe bus for high-end servers. Pliant is a leader in the use of multi-level cell (MLC) NAND to create solid-state drives for the corporate market. Due to its low cost, solid state drives based on MLC in great demand among corporate users.
