MTS and Cisco solution for deploying a scalable Internet access

The mobile operator and Cisco announced the first in Russia to implement the solution that provides simultaneous access to the Internet to millions of subscribers of MTS in resource-limited IP-addresses.

As stated in the companies, the development of 3G networks and increasing consumption of data services has led to a significant increase in the number of new devices connected to the Internet, and an exponential increase in the number of simultaneous subscriber sessions. When connected to a worldwide network, each user receives from the operator's IP-address - a unique network address of the device in the network are needed to identify the user on the network. In the case of mobile Internet use dynamic or temporary IP-address, that is, every time you connect to the subscriber is allocated a new temporary address. In the absence of free addresses of your Internet connection is impossible.

Now in Russia used the IP-address IPv4, where each IP-address is a combination of four numbers, for example: 192.168.0.1. The number of addresses in such a system is limited: worldwide there are 4.3 billion addresses in the protocol IPv4. For 30 years the global system of Internet addresses available to exhaust stock-based protocol IPv4, and in the near future transition to addressing the next generation - the protocol IPv6, which will significantly expand the range of addresses available by increasing the length of the address.

System Address Translation Cisco Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (NAT), introduced by the MTS provides the ability to connect new users to the Internet with a limited number of public IP-addresses for the simultaneous use of the same address more than one person. The system's ability to increase its capacity to 80 million targeted broadcasts provide an opportunity to centralize MTS Internet access to several regional networks, both mobile and fixed networks. At the first stage, the system Cisco Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (NAT) is set in Siberia. In the future implementation of the solution will be other regions of the country.

Capacity Cisco CRS-3 reaches 322 Tbit / s, which is three times higher than the previous system provider routing. This allows for a second with a small load all the printed information to the Library of Congress, to provide simultaneous video for the entire population of China and less than four minutes to transmit over the internet all the films, created in the history of mankind.
