Subscriber benefits at the heart of Telstra’s triple-access gateway solution

Australian operator Telstra was an early mover in LTE technology uptake. Telstra’s Mike Wright tells us how multi-access gateway technology allows the same elements of the company’s network to facilitate its 2G, 3G and LTE customers.

Wright, Executive Director of Networks and Access Technologies at Telstra, talks about how the operator implemented a triple-access gateway solution aimed at helping its subscribers evolve to next-generation technologies as simply as possible.

Wright also highlights the importance of thinking about future subscriber demand when considering network evolution, as well as giving his views on the importance of connectivity in the success of cloud services.

In terms of what the company wants from vendors, Wright says Telstra looks for technology leadership that improves network capacity, lowers cost, maintains reliability and looks to the future.
