Huawei Introduces New Data Center Solutions at GITEX to Help Global Enterprises Succeed in the Cloud Era

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, unveiled a complete 'one-stop-shop' cloud data center solution at GITEX 2012, providing Middle Eastern businesses with robust and highly secure communications networks and IT infrastructure that will help them address challenges in the cloud computing era. With its strong commitment to enterprise customers, Huawei is dedicated to modernising traditional data centers by providing innovative products and solutions, including secure and intelligent network switches and high capacity storage systems. Huawei's new generation of data center solutions are able to meet the high growth requirements of organizations in the Middle East, helping them to effectively cope with the changing technological landscape brought about by cloud computing.

Huawei's CloudEngine series core switches are the industry's highest-performance next-generation data center switches. The CloudEngine series is able to support the evolution of four generations of servers over a 10 year span, helping customers protect their investments and build a sustainable data center network infrastructure with long-term stability. The CloudEngine 12800 series core switch provides large switching capacity of up to 48Tbps, three times the highest level currently available on the market, and bandwidth of 2Tbps per slot (scalable to 4Tbps in the future), which is four times the industry's highest level at present. The CloudEngine 12800 series core switch and the CloudEngine 5800/6800 Top-of-Rack (TOR) switches support high-density connectivity for 100GE, 40GE, 10GE and GE interfaces, as well as network virtualization and computing, storage and network convergence, which enable university campuses, banks, government organizations, railway companies, and other large businesses that experience high network traffic, to enjoy more seamless connectivity with faster access to data.

Huawei's high-end security firewall solutions (USG9580) enhance data center security and data processing speed, while improving network performance. Both Huawei's SecoSpace security solutions and the USG9580 high-end data center firewall are able to provide users with the security and flexibility they need to operate cloud data centers. The security gateway with one terabyte throughput capacity is able to lift the data transfer rate to the highest level in the industry. The firewall can identify over 1,200 applications to assess the risk of incoming and outgoing traffic, in turn, adjusting and prioritizing network traffic accordingly to maintain network quality of service (QoS), thereby allowing users to transfer data quickly and securely even when all data center applications are running. The USG9580 can also effectively defend against hundreds of Gigabytes of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack traffic.

Dong Wu, Vice President of Huawei Enterprise Middle East, said: "Trends in IT automation and the rapid deployment of mobile Internet and cloud computing in the Middle East require us to review and improve the construction model of traditional data centers to overcome drawbacks such as long deployment time, over-capacity building, project complexity and high costs. The new modular cloud data center solutions Huawei is introducing today are smart, scalable, easy-to-use, and interoperable with customers' existing IT infrastructure, while lowering the overall operating and energy costs for them. With our enriched product portfolio, we are able to offer a real one-stop-shop experience for organizations, helping them build secure, efficient and scalable data centers."

At GITEX, Huawei also unveiled an all-in-one outdoor and indoor container data center solution (IDS1000S). Its unique cooling and fire suppression system ensure asset security and business continuity for enterprise customers. The new family of green modular data center solutions provides energy savings of up to 40% and a reduction in total cost of ownership of 30%. With Huawei's advanced technologies, the latest modular data center is able to operate under extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 55 °C.

Huawei's innovative micro modular data center solution (IDS2000M) features short construction time, long service life and ease of management. The micro data center requires only 15 weeks to build and can deliver a service life of up to 15 years, representing a 60% time savings compared to the typical 8-12 months required to construct a traditional data center. By integrating cloud infrastructure in a single module, and employing Huawei's NetEco unified management software platform, the solution allows users to operate and manage all data center infrastructure equipment in an easy and convenient way, which is ideal for governments, financial institutions, commercial retailers and small and medium sized businesses.

The new cloud data center solutions being launched at GITEX draw on Huawei's extensive experience in cloud computing, including its close collaboration with customers across 33 countries on commercial cloud deployments, as well as the implementation of the world's largest desktop cloud that is being used internally by approximately 70,000 Huawei employees. To date, Huawei has helped customers worldwide build 260 data centers, 35 of which are cloud computing data centers.

Huawei is located at Stand E13, Za'abeel Hall, Gulf Comms area, and Stand CLD4, Hall 6, Cloud area, at Dubai World Trade Center. GITEX Technology Week 2012 is held from October 14 to 18, 2012, in Dubai, UAE.
