LEGO has introduced a new generation of educational robots Mindstorms Education EV3
The company introduced the new LEGO Education platform LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3, a new generation of LEGO robots to work in the classroom, continuing a 15-year history of the Lego robots, used for educational purposes.
According to the company, the platform EV3 was developed in collaboration with more than 800 teachers from all over the world and, thus, is the most advanced environment for teaching computer science, physics, technology, design, and mathematics in the process of working with sensors, motors, software, and by microcomputer EV3.
With EV3 students can gather and program a fully functioning robot in just 45 minutes, that is, within one standard lesson.
EV3 platform includes a set of custom learning tasks. They are available in digital form and is easily installed in the software environment LEGO Education MINDSTORMS. The built-in e-book software will allow students to record their progress throughout the sessions, and teachers monitor the work of his team, and evaluate the work done.
The composition also includes a set of EV3 jobs "Engineering Projects", which includes instructions for 30 hours in the classroom. Employment structure, provide a set of tasks "Engineering Projects", corresponds to the standard processes and standards used by scientists and engineers in many industries. Each task is accompanied by an instructional video demonstrating real examples of robotics. According to the manufacturer, it inspires students to develop, design, and discuss their own decisions. Throughout the training, they create design solutions and learn at the same time to use their knowledge in science, technology and mathematics. Kit is designed to help students develop the ability for creative thinking, problem solving and tasks, team work, communication skills necessary for success in school and in adult life.
In the basic set of LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 include: programmable microcomputer EV3, rechargeable battery, a set of sensors, motors, a set of building blocks LEGO Technic, wheels and assembly instructions. Intuitive software for EV3 created based on the graphic software package National Instruments LabVIEW, used in a number of major research centers in the world. EV3 software includes new APIs for data recording, allowing you to monitor a variety of parameters. We also present a set of Resource LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3, which will allow students to design larger and more complex robots. For ease of use for both sets of classes are convenient containers for storing items and trays for sorting.
Sets LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 available for pre-order, shipping products begin in the second half of 2013.
