Tiina Jaatinen: My Windows Phone 8 Start Screen

As the editor-in-chief, Tiina is the big boss here on Nokia Conversations.
She recently wrote a post looking back on 2012 and declared it a bold year when Conversations truly came of age.
As we all hope 2013 is going to be even bigger and bolder than the last 12 months, let’s see what the boss has on her Lumia 920 Start screen.

Tell us the apps you’ve prioritised and why?

I have put some inspirational apps to the top like Photos, Nokia Music and a customized Mix Radio playlist that I play to my colleagues in the morning when they arrive to the office.
I also have a shortcut to Family Room (the one with the cute little dog pic) and the live tile of The Weather Channel App, so that I know what to wear and how to plan for travels.
I have all “personal” messaging tools like personal mail, messaging, phone, and PhotoBeamer (in case I’m in the mood for a magical picture show) grouped together next to my Me Tile. Me Tile is where I make quick updates to Facebook and Twitter and it also gives me quick access to notifications from different social networks.
Then I have the People Hub – all my contacts form all networks and phone books in one single place. I love the People Hub Live Tile as it shows people’s profile pictures reminding me to get in touch with someone that I might not have spoken to for a while. Next to People Hub I have my “office” tools – work email, calendar, Lync andSkype
Next, I have some apps I use to kill time. And below the screen fold I have my mobile banking app, specific social network apps (Twitter,FacebookLinkedIn) as well as Nokia location apps, Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps, so that I don’t get lost when I’m out and about.

What apps do you use to pass the time?

It’s either People Hub where I go to check what’s happening in the world through social discovery, or those apps that are on the last visible row of my start screen.

There I have Angry Birds Roost (gives me access to all the Angry Birds games I’ve downloaded),Helsingin Sanomat (Finnish newspaper), the Guardian app and last but not least the brilliantNokia Conversations app by@dotnetnelson, and actually I use the Nokia Conversations app all the time – not just to kill time but also to check stories and read comments on our blog when I’m on the go.

What is the last app you paid for, and what does it do?

Angry Birds Star Wars – makes the day go by too quickly!

Which app(s) is your guilty pleasure?

I love maps in any shape or form, so it has got to be map apps. I love planning routes so sometimes I can spend hours just zooming in and out with Nokia Maps. Also I’m currently browsing through theWindows Phone Store to find some good and useful navigation apps for sailors. If you have any recommendations, let me know:)
