MTS: Chernivtsi, Donetsk and Kiev - "smartphone" centers of Ukraine

The mobile operator "MTS Ukraine" announced smartphone usage statistics of their subscribers by region of the country at the beginning of 2013.

According to the operator, at the beginning of 2013 the city with the highest penetration of smartphones has become the city of Chernivtsi, in which "smart" phones have 20.9% of MTS. This high figure - Chernivtsi outscores Donetsk (20.3%) and Kiev (20.1%) - operator of experts associated with the fact that the region is home to a large percentage of "guest workers" and people who have family ties with foreign countries. They have, as a rule, high income, and often have the opportunity to use the 3G-service European carriers.

Fourth and fifth place in the ranking occupied Crimea and Luhansk, respectively, with the results 19.6% and 18.1%.

Compared with the end of the third quarter of 2012 Crimea moved from first to fourth position, behind the leadership of Chernivtsi. This is due to the fact that in the third quarter of 2012, the number of smartphone users in the Crimea was more due to customers who have come to rest.

The most popular operating system in Ukraine is still Symbian, however, in recent years there is a tendency to reduce the number of smartphones using the OS. However, the most rapidly growing are the devices on platforms from Apple, Google and Microsoft. The greatest number of devices Apple owners live in Kiev, while the leaders in the use of smart phones based on Android and Windows are donetchane and Chernivtsi.

Total Online "MTS Ukraine" has about 3.5 million smartphones, 1.3 million more than last year. The largest increase was in the device running Android, the number of which only for the fourth quarter of 2012 increased by 73% and exceeded 1.24 million.
