FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Are those Google Maps / satellite images?
A: We are using the very highest quality aerial images available, all licensed by their owners. The maps we obtain are then thoroughly edited (photographed traffic must be removed and lighting corrected) and enhanced with hand made height maps and carefully blended 3D additions.

Q: Is the view top-down only?
A: Yes, this is central to Real World Racing, as the maps are specially prepared to be rendered from a bird's eye perspective.

Q: This is not a simulation! Aren't top-down racers supposed to be whacky arcade games?
A: Real World Racing is simulative at heart: the inner workings of the game engine are the same as in full-blown 3D racers, with a few tweaks to attain both faithful simulation and great playability. From there, we are trying to build a truly entertaining experience, adding several varied event types.

Q: What about cars? Will they be on license?
A: For the time being we could not get hold of enough licenses, so we are using fictional models that closely resemble actual cars. A connoisseur should have no problems getting the references to the originals.

Q: Will RWR have drifting mode?
A: Of course, we have drifting fully integrated from the get-go. We will release a new video shortly, which will include some drifting gameplay.

Q: Was that a few rally stages I saw?
A: Yes.

Q: Any sort of customization like a Track Editor?
A: Because of licensing issues and the sheer amount of work needed to make new tracks, we can't promise this kind of freedom, but we're looking into making modding easy should the community demand so.

Q: Will there be car tuning?
A: Visual tuning is already built in the game to some extent, and we are considering giving access to more customization options after launch, as we plan to evolve RWR well beyond that.

Q: What about price at launch?
A: It's still early to determine, but we're definitely aiming for the game to be very affordable.
