MTS and Ericsson signed an agreement to jointly develop 4G in Russia
The mobile operator MTS, Ericsson announced the signing of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, an agreement on the joint development of the telecommunications infrastructure in the regions of Russia and cooperation in the construction of 4G networks in the Volga, Siberia, the Urals and Southern Federal Districts.
Ericsson will be the largest supplier of equipment for 4G-MTS and in the three years since the second quarter of 2013, will work on the construction of the fourth generation of the MTS network in the four federal districts, with an area covering more than half of the territory of Russia. The first phase of construction 4G-network Ericsson will supply at least 10,000 base stations.
Ericsson selected as a supplier to the switching network LTE not only in the regions where the vendor will deploy radio access network of the fourth generation, but also in the North-West Federal District.
Under the agreement, MTS and Ericsson agreed to increase cooperation and the development of networks of second and third generation in some regions of the country.
