Tele2 and NIIR begin trials of LTE in the 1800 MHz band in Kaluga
The mobile operator Tele2 announced the start of trials of LTE in the 1800 MHz band in the current network operator in the Kaluga region. The tests are conducted by experts in accordance with the instructions of the Radio Research Institute of the State Commission for Radio Frequencies (SCRF) of 19 December 2012.
Testing LTE technology in the 1800 MHz band extends in accordance with the procedure developed by Institute of Radio and aims to confirm efficacy of LTE and GSM in the same frequency range without loss of connection.
For the tests used equipment company Nokia Siemens Networks, including energy-efficient and compact base stations Flexi Multiradio. In addition, for the test solution used Evolved Packet Core (EPC), which is part of the Liquid Core architecture and manages connections of subscribers of broadband mobile data to the Internet, private network operators or corporate networks.
Tele2 and Radio Research Institute intend to complete the test before June 24, 2013. A detailed report on the results of tests of LTE in the 1800 MHz band will be drawn up by experts Radio Research Institute and submitted to the SCR.
