ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE CUSTOMERS TRUST BlackBerry TO SECURE THEIR MOBILE ENVIROMENTS
Momentum builds in Australia and New Zealand as organizations choose BlackBerry’s cross-platform solutions for multi-OS EMM, secure file-sharing and networked crisis communications
Sydney, Australia – BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX: BB), a global leader in secure mobile communications, continues to expand its presence in Australia and New Zealand with the addition of enterprise software customers in industries such as logistics, education, legal and insurance. The services deployed include BlackBerry’s cross-platform solutions for multi-OS enterprise mobility management (EMM), secure file-sharing and networked crisis communications.
The customers, SIRVA, Buddle Findlay, Catholic Church Insurance and Macquarie University, are collectively meeting hundreds of different mobility and security requirements, regardless of which devices are used in their organizations.
“We’re pleased these organizations trusted BlackBerry to be their partner in securing, mobilizing and protecting their employees, customers and students,” said Paul Crighton, vice president for BlackBerry in Asia Pacific and Japan. “For more than 15 years, BlackBerry has been at the forefront of providing the most secure solutions to governments and regulated industries. This momentum continues to grow, especially in Australia and New Zealand.”

SIRVA is a leading global moving services provider, and offers relocation programs locally across Australia. SIRVA selected BES12 to secure and centrally manage a fleet of tablets being used in the operational area of their business. BES12 was chosen for its usability, functionality, and ability to adapt to unique requirements.
Corey Buchanan, IT Support Officer, SIRVA says, “SIRVA is a leader in the global relocation and moving services sector and offers service solutions across the world. We always use the latest in technology to service our clients, and we needed a solution that helped us to securely collate data in the field and retain our competitive edge. When we implemented BES12, we were instantly impressed with the software’s capability to solve our immediate issues and support our future plans. With BES12, we have been able to deploy a secured Android app that lets staff collect data in the field real time. This provides an effective and usable solution for our operational staff, whist enabling the IT department to centrally manage and deploy new apps or updates effectively and effortlessly.
Buddle Findlay is a leading New Zealand commercial and public law firm with close to 280 staff, offering comprehensive corporate and commercial legal services to both public and private companies. Serving an industry where data security is a top priority, Buddle Findlay and Lawtech, chose BES12 and Good Secure EMM Suites as an on-premise software solution, which offered security as well as usability.
Ken McGregor, Chief Executive Officer, Lawtech says, “Buddle Findlay was looking for the most secure way to deploy the iManage Worksite Mobility app onto our IOS devices. Our trial system is at the early stages of testing and on the basis of a successful trial, we would be looking at ways to improve the user experience and to publish our own internal apps through the solution to our mobile devices".
Catholic Church Insurance caters for the insurance needs of Catholic organizations including churches, education establishments, aged care and welfare organizations. WatchDox was chosen to enable the business to share documents securely both with clients and internally among staff.
Tony Lawrence, Information Security Officer for Catholic Church Insurance says, “With a lot of personal and financial information being shared both in and outside our organization, it was of paramount of importance that we could share client documents securely. We needed a file-sharing system that we could really trust, not an everyday cloud solution. We also needed it to be easy to use. WatchDox is simple and straightforward, both in deployment and for our users, meaning it’s been easy for our employees to keep documents secure and remain productive.”
Macquarie University in Sydney brings together 40,000 students and 3000 staff on a 126 hectare-site. With thousands of people on campus at any one time, security is a top priority and the campus wanted an “incident-ready” solution that was able to issue targeted or mass alerts to students and staff. A key requirement was to find an easy-to-deploy solution that would integrate with what staff and students already had in their hands – mobiles and laptops. AtHoc by BlackBerry, uses mobility, hybrid cloud and the IP network to deliver an end-to-end solution for Macquarie University.
John Durbridge, Campus Security Manager, Property, Macquarie University says: “Knowing that the AtHoc solution is also used by US and Australian Defence Forces gives us peace of mind, but better still, we found the ease of deployment, ongoing management, scalability and multi-platform reach enables the university to keep our staff and students safe – 24/7. The security team especially likes the real-time feedback of the system which allows us to maintain real-time responses to alerts sent and to have greater control over our solution. The AtHoc customer service team is always on hand to support us.”
This announcement follows news of robust software growth shared at BlackBerry’s end of quarter financials in June, seven major new updates to BlackBerry’s enterprise portfolio and a revamped global partner program and the BlackBerry Security Summit in New York. BlackBerry was named a Leader in the Gartner1) Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) Suites in June 2016 and in April, WatchDox® by BlackBerry was named a leader in Forrester’s 2016 Enterprise File Sync and Share report.
