The latest Sony Ericsson rumors

There has been a lack of rumors since the June 14th announcements and that is understandable. We are all wrapped up in SE's new phones (especially the K850). Mobile-review published 2 very interesting articles, one on SE's plans and the other, impressions on SE's new products. Laffen from esato has hinted of a T920 adnd T921 device and he reconfirms itheir existance today. There will also be a new special accessory that takes advantage of the landscape mode of the phones (to watch movies/display pics). The new car bluetooth handsfree that was found at the FCC a while back also hasn't been announced yet (SE saving it for next anouncement?) There are rumors of a July announcement. Also, Shaliron posted some more info in the rumor thread over at esato. Here is what he posted:

"T920 and T921 sound interesting. Very high index (as mentioned before). Could these be the two VGA screened mobiles for next year?

Oh wait... we don't know that yet, so...

UPDATE:
- Beginings of 'designer' and 'premium' series. The T650 is an example of a designer model - a mobile which values form over function, although SE is trying to create a 'semi-premium' range which is set apart by its design.
- A mobile with to compete against the Nokia 8xxx series may be out by Spring (Q2) 2008.
- In Q3 2007, the A100 platform (the default non-smartphone platform) functionality will be upgraded again. These changes include:
- Support for electronic transactions, mobile banking, etc. - Mobile commerce - GPS support, and programs associated with GPS.
- Supprt for VoIP
- 3D graphics
- Content hadler API
- Scalable 2D vector graphics API for JAVA ME
- Mobile internationalization API
- Support for OPEN GL
- Support for motion sensors (accelerometers). This means intergration of accelerometers and games (and other Java applications).
- Intergrated graphics chips to be incorporated with the launch of gaming orientated mobiles (to be released in 2008).
- Continuing support for both M2 and MicroSD.
- No inbuilt GPS for 2007-2008. Rather, it will continue to be intergrated in the handsfree kits. GPS applications will be bundled though.
- 2008 mid range will still be based on the non-smartphone A100 platform.
- A couple of phones (music orientated) will have 3.5mm headphone jacks on the actual body of the mobile - music orientated meaning Walkman branded mobiles.
- MicroUSB sockets could be intergrated in SE mobiles.
- The K850 style touch sensitive softkeys will be further incoporated into the portfolio. They will eventually move ino the mid range.
- QVGA screens are going to intergrated in the Sony Ericsson portfolio more reasily in 2008. That means, that QVGA should finally become standard for the mid range.
- VGA screens will also appear on two mobile next year."

UPDATE

On a Polish forum, a guy who's been playing around with that red Shinobu (W910) prototype, and it identifies itself as: User-Agent SonyEricssonT921i/R1AB Browser/NetFront/3.4 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1

Strange how it reads T921 ain't it? The source who gave me this info assumes that T920 would be the W908c and T921i would be the W910.

I reckon it means that the T920 is a close relative of the W910. Possibly a slim Cyber-shot slider or something along those lines.

There is to be a NTT DoCoMo SonyEricsson SO704i announced in July. It's a flip phone. Specifications include: WCDMA, exchangeable covers (style-up panels with illumination lights), 2 megapixel autofocus camera, and a widescreen. 2.74" TFT screen (240x432).

T920/T921 could be referring to W908c/W910 or a brother phone of Shinobu (W910).

  2. Hi! It's good to see that SE has given attention to this matter. This situation has also been posted at se-nse and howardforums in addition to my-symbian and esato. Hopefully, SE won't disappoint us. Leave me your email and I will get back to you.
