Nokia 6500 Slider review
Mobile-review have finally posted their Nokia 6500 Slider review in English. This is definitely worth a read (even of you read the translated one I posted a while back). Here is the final impression:
"The volume of the 72-chord call alert is quite high; the device is very audible in various environments, although, since there is only one polyphonic speaker on the place, that is located on the rear on top of that, you might end up missing a call should you have the 6500 slide in your jeans pocket. The handset does well on the reception front, being a typical representative of the current generation of devices. The silent alert is average strength-wise, but you will still feel it even with the phone in the pocket.
The Nokia 6500 Slide starts shipping in August, almost at one time with the 6500 Classic, and will marginally differ from the latter in terms of price (about 100 USD for Russia), but there will be no dilemma of choosing one of the two, as these are two very different models. The Slide will cost you around 370 Euro (in Russia the sales will kick off at the 600 USD mark, but will rapidly go down to 430-500 USD, which an adequate price for this phone).
The 6500 Slide aims at the enterprise audience for the most market and comes in to rightfully replace the 6280, the 6288, with some bright future ahead it, since there is no direct competition.
A few months into the Nokia 6500 Slide launch, we can expect its candy-bar edition to show up with the basic functionality of the Slide untouched, again, it is the same succession line like we saw with the 6280 and the 6233. This candy-bar will boast relatively thin profile, metal parts, no-nonsense design and can be considered as the successor to the 6233/6300.
